Did You Know...

... that Janine Tillenburg is Gamma Ray's new Point?

    Gamma Ray 2012 lineup
posted Apr 30th, 2013 - The NSL News reported on 1 April 2013 that Germany has a 4way vacuum to be filled this year after the national 4way team of the past years, Paratec-Saar, announed to discontinue with training and competition. The same story covered a training camp of the new EADS lineup who plan to fill the vacuum. The EADS placed 2nd at the German Nationals last year and are probably the top contender for this year's 4way title.

Gamma Ray Kassel took the 3rd place at the German Nationals 2012 and has good chances to move up in the rankings, as well. Gamma Ray is not coming back with the same lineup though. Point Steffen Schiedeck is sitting out this year, and Janine Tillenburg is the new piece partner for Center Outside Uli Sehrbrock.

The new Gamma Ray lineup is also training in DeLand this week to get ready for the competition season in Germany.

Connatural family team in 2011
The new member, Janine Tillenburg, is not new to the NSL News audience. Her previous team, Zero Gravity, finished in 5th place at the German Nationals 2012.

The NSL News had zoomed in on Janine Tillenburg even earlier. The story on 4 January 2011 introduced her family team who traveled to Dubai at the beginning of the year, including father Harald on camera, brother Sascha, sister-in-law Daniela and boyfriend Dennis Gottschalk.

Connatural was only a team for the 2nd Dubai Cup, however, Janine Tillenburg continued her 4way activities together with Dennis Gottschalk and Zero Gravity in preparation for the 5th place at the German Nationals 2012.

The 2012 season was not over for the 2way after the national championships. Janine Tillenburg and Dennis Gottschalk followed up with an international lineup (4X) at the ISR Grand Prix 2012 where the NSL News found their names once again:

"Thunder is not the only international lineup in the AAA Class field so far. 4X is a German/Belgian combination with Ludo Havelearts (BE), Rike Kraus, Janine Tillenburg and Dennis Gottschalk from Germany. 4X attended the ISR GRand Prix 2011 with a similar lineup and trains only for the tunnel competition."

Gamma Ray member Uli Sehrbrock said that his 3way did not expect Janine Tillenburg to be available: "We thought they would only come as a package..." That was not the case, and Gamma Ray has a new Point. The new lineup had a bad start into the running training camp, as Uli Sehrbrock had to sit out due to a cold that he probably brought from Germany. Coach Shannon Pilcher is filling the slot during his recovery time.
