posted Jul 5th, 2013 - Last weekend's AA Class leaderboard is comprised of four teams from Texas and two teams from the Northern Plains. The Sun Path Products NSL News reported earlier that Texas won all three categories (AAA - AA - Rookie) in which teams had signed up for at the meet in Speaceland. SPX5 was the undisputed winner in the AA Class.

Other than that, the AA Class competition on the overall leaderboard was possibly more exciting and closer than ever before. Two teams were tied in 2nd place, and two other teams were tied in 4th place. This could also be a first time on any NSL overall leaderboard.

The Glitter Girls from Skydive San Marcos would earn the 4th place with the highest score for a single round, the 10-pointer in Round 1. The Glitter Girls also deserved the 4th place after the bad luck in Round 6. They were up by six points over Spaceland Toxic going into Round 6, but a video problem landed them the 0-pointer.

Spaceland Tsunami won the 2nd place with two 10-pointers as the highest scores for a round over Plug It in Anywhere from the Northern Plains.

SPX5 will probably be in contention for Intermediate Class medals at the USPA Nationals this year. Last weekend's 11.2 average matches the bronze medal average at the USPA Nationals 2012 (11.8 - 11.3 - 11.2) at this point in time.

Being in the mix for the medals will be nothing new for three team members who placed 4th last year with Spaceland Liter. Jorge Alvarez, Laura Reed and Stacey Curry, with Russell Roegels on camera, were three points short of bronze medals in Eloy. Mariuschka Lovera has taken the Point slot for James Hoder, and SPX5 will once again be ready to go for USPA medals.

Cosmic Debris from the Northern Plains won the USPA gold medals in the AA/Intermediate Class last year. Two of the 2012 gold medal winners competed last weekend, as well. John Kretzschmar was in the Fourcast lineup and competed in the AAA Class, while Alissa Olson filled an open slot for Plug It In Anywhere.

The AA Class team tied the Texas team in 2nd place and posted the highest meet average with Alissa Olson in the Center Outside slot. It was a very new position for the youngest Cosmic Debris member who was the Tail for her own team. John Kretzschmar was the Center Outside for Cosmic Debris last year.

Cosmic Debris won the gold medals with an 11.8 average after a 0-pionter in Round 5 at the USPA Nationals 2012. SPX5 still has over two months to get to the 12-average scoring level, which will almost guarantee a medal position. Two more meets in Texas and Northern Plains offer the opportunity for more meet practice. Both leagues have once again scheduled the next meet for the same date on the July 27 weekend.
