Did You Know...

... that Joey Jones reports from an international meet in Prostejov?

Joey Jones for the Sun Path Products NSL News in Dubai
posted Jul 22nd, 2013 - The skydiving center in Prostejov, Czech Republic, host of the world cups in 2009 and 2012, and host of the World Championship of Formation Skydiving 2014, also held its second meet of the Czech Republic Skydiving League 2013 last weekend.

The event enjoyed the presence of a prominent visitor, as DeLand Majik 4way world champion of 2004, Joey Jones, was in Prostejov for a training camp with a few of the several teams he is coaching this year. The Swedish national team in the female 4way category, Fire, used the opportunity for meet practice, together with a lineup from Slovenia.

Both teams will represent their countries at the World Cup 2013 in Banjaluka in August. The timing for the last competition practice was almost perfect.

Great Swedish spirits at a painful meet in Dubai
Fire came back with the same lineup that competed for Sweden at the Mondial Dubai 2012. The Sun Path Products NSL News audience may remember Fire's exciting race for the last slot in the finals with Denmark.

Annica Carlsson was struggling badly with an injured ellbow throughout the whole meet, and the painful last rounds probably caused the missing of Round 10. However, coach Joey Jones reported that she has been recovering well since Dubai.

He explained that Fire has now also added an alternate to the lineup and will be ready for a critical situation as in Dubai: "Carolina Nilsson has joined the team as an alternate and is doing great."

Complete 2013 lineup with coach Joey Jones in Sweden
Fire also finished the 8-round competition with a new team record. The 13.9 average came after only 30 training jumps with the main lineup. Joey Jones said that Fire completed one training camp earlier this year in Seville, Spain. Fire will now be competing at the Swedish Nationals in two weeks and then at the World Cup.

Joey Jones also introduced the team from Slovenia: "The Slovenian team in 2nd place will also be representing their country at this year's World Cup. They are the second team from Slovenia behind the Sky Dragons who competed at the Mondial in Dubai. The Sky Dragons will not be competing at the World Cup but are training for World Meet 2014. This is an excellent opportunity for the 2nd team to gain much needed international experience. They normally jump from the Porter and came out this weekend to get their Let-410 exit sorted out for the World Cup."

He added that the Slovenian team had to pick up a videographer for the meet and struggled with video issues for the judging. Joey Jones will continue to work with both teams this year and in 2014.
