NSL News Coverage of the FAI Indoor World Cup 2024

Did You Know...

... that Jeremie Rollett explained the whole French makeover in Banja Luka?

French delegation in Banja Luka
posted Aug 23rd, 2013 - The next NSL Reality TV clip that was recorded at the World Cup 2013 features three members of the French delegation in Banja Luka at the end of the competition. Aerodyne French Girls world champion Perrine Sanchez, 8way world champion Thomas Perrin-Gachadoat and national coach Jeremie Rollett took the time for a review of the event from the French perspective.

France won two World Cup gold medals in the Formation Skydiving events (8way, 4way Women), one silver medal in VFS 4way and a bronze medal in 4way Open. This outcome does not compare to the complete French FS sweep in Menzelinsk 2010, and it is still a good and promising start for the new and changing French FS delegation.

Jeremie Rollett, who won 4way gold for France in 2010 and 8way gold in 2006 and 2008, explained the changes in the interview and why they are happening.

French sweep in Menzelinsk 2010
The previous French national coach, Jerome David, handed over the FS reigns with perfect results for France in 2010. This did not make it very easy for Jeremie Rollett. There is nothing to improve after winning four gold medals in four events. The winning lineups also still consisted of very experienced competitors, who would not continue forever.

Jeremie Rollett had to find a way to bring back enough medals for France at the events after Menzelinsk 2010, and he was also facing the challenging situation of recruiting new and young competitors for the French FS future at the same time.

The transition happened smoothly and very successfully in 4way Women. France defended the gold medals successfully in Dubai 2012 with a new lineup. Perrine Sanchez was then the only defending world champion in Banja Luka, and France came right back to the top with another new linup.

Gamble for 2012: Jeremie Rollett at the Mondial Dubai 2012; here with Pete Allum and Steve Hamilton
Philippe Schorno and his VFS 4way Team4speed defended the 2010 gold medals successfully in Dubai, as well. His new lineup did not win in Banja Luka, however, Team4speed was close enough to Dubai Nexus to justify hopes and plans for gold next year.

Jeremie Rollett was facing the biggest challenges in the two traditional Formation Skydiving categories, 4way Open and 8way Open. He tried to use the French support resources most efficiently in 2011 and 2012 and sent the new French 4way lineup into the 8way battle, as well.

It was a very reasonable idea, as all four team members, three of them 4way world champions of 2010, were multiple 8way world champions. It was a gamble, and Jeremie Rollett lost it. The 4way experts of Arizona Airspeed and NMP-PCH Hayabusa were too strong for France to keep up with, and the Golden Knights won with a new 8way record average.

4way and 8way gold in 2010: Mathieu Bernier
Jeremie Rollett is now using the most recent experiences. He is convinced that it will be impossible for a team to win in both events, and Mathieu Bernier may become the only competitor in Formation Skydiving history who won 4way and 8way gold at the same World Championship.

The French national coach has now completely separated the 4way and 8way lineups. Julien Degen and Mathieu Bernier have joined forces with two new and young French 4way competitors, while the 8way team, after posting the highest meet average in French 8way history in Dubai 2012, had their farewell meet in Banja Luke.

The leaving 8way lineup posted another incredible 30-pointer in Round 5 as a farewell gift, which was once again one point short of the Golden Knights 31-pointer of 1997. Thomas Perrin-Gachadoat is now the only 8way member who will continue with the new French 8way team that finished in 3rd place in Banja Luke. Jeremie Rollett will announce the final 8way lineup very soon.
