Did You Know...

... that the UK teams are getting closer to the US record number of 80?

Awards at the UK Nationals 2013
posted Aug 28th, 2013 - The host of the UK Nationals 2013 in Hibaldstow has realeased a video that is featuring the record breaking event from many different angles.

One of the angles was the participation of 75 teams, including three VFS 4way teams. The UK Nationals have become one of the largest 4way events in the world. Only the USPA Nationals and the World Challenge are used to such numbers of teams at their events.

Skydive Perris attracted a total of 80 teams to the USPA Nationals 2005. There were no VFS 4way teams included, as the event was not a part of the national championships by then. The 80 teams were also separated in only three USPA categories, Open (AAA), Advanced (AAA) and Intermediate (AA). The British Parachute Association has adopted all four NSL categories and attracts additional A Class and Rookie Class teams to the national championships who have no playground at the USPA Nationals.BORDER=0 height=64 width=630

World Challenge 2013 at Bodyflight Bedford
The World Challenge 2013 attracted 83 teams to Bodyflight Bedford this year, including five Dynamic 4way teams. That's by far the largest number for an indoor competition.

A total of 72 teams competed in the United Kingdom at last year's national championships, and this year's 75 confirms the consistent British 4way upswing. It will be no surprise if the United Kingdom will eventually arrive at the US record number of 80. VFS 4way has been included in the USPA event format for a few years, and a total of 74 teams competed last year in Eloy, Arizona, including a total of 13 VFS teams. This year's UK record beats USPA's 2012 number.

The USPA Nationals 2013 begin in little over two weeks, and the Sun Path Products NSL News will be live on site at Skydive Chicago. This year's numbers will show if USPA may have to include A Class and Rookies in the future to fend off the UK challenge...
