Did You Know...

... that Evolution's VFS 4way lineup gets help from former Nexus member Jason Russell?

    Evolution's VFS 4way lineup
posted Mar 24th, 2014 - The Canadian Indoor Skydiving Championship 2014 included several other events, including a VFS 4way competition.

The Sun Path Products NSL News reported earlier that Evolution would compete once again in both 4way events and experience the pressure of the double duties. The competition at the Paraclete XP Outdoor Championship 2014 brought pressure by the tight schedule and tough opposition in both events. The challenge at SkyVenture Montreal was only the even tighter schedule, as there was no serious competition for Evolution, neither in traditional 4way nor in VFS 4way.

Evolution's focus was probably more on the VFS 4way performance, as the lineup for traditional 4way was not complete, while the three Lemay brothers competed with full member Jean-Christophe Ouimet in VFS 4way.

Reigning French world champions: Team4speed
The VFS 4way performance had probably even more value after a special training camp in DeLand directly after the Paraclete XP Outdoor Championship 2014. Evolution continued with VFS 4way training and had hired former Nexus team captain Jason Russell to provide the secret Nexus tricks.

The Nexus team project at Skydive Dubai has come to an end, and some of the team members have moved back to the USA. Nexus won all three competitions in 2013 over the reigning Team4speed world champions from France and had taken the top position in the VFS 4way world last year.

The Nexus members will not be eligible to compete for another country at the World Meet 2014 in the Czech Republic and could only be back for the USA in 2016. Jason Russell agreed to help Evolution with the Canadian pursuit of VFS medals this year.

The first results of the Evolution/Nexus cooperation are not showing yet on the scoreboard. Evolution's last VFS 4way indoor competition was at the Singapore Indoor Championship 2012 where the same Canadian lineup finished with a 29.1 average.

Jason Russell and Evolution worked on outdoor skills in DeLand, and the scores at SkyVenture Montreal don't mean that much at this point in time. The next VFS 4way competition is the outdoor meet in Prostejov. That's where Evolution will try to make it as difficult as possible for the French world champions to defend their title.

The scores in Singapore 2012 had another interesting aspect. Evolution outscored the new US national team Arizona Arsenal by two points at the same event. However, Arsenal followed up with a 19.6 average at the USPA Nationals 2013, while Evolution posted 18.5 at the Paraclete XP Outdoor Championship 2014. It seems to be an open race at this point in time.
