Did You Know...

... that Katie Woods talked about her family team experiences on NSL-TV?

Brother and sister James and Katie Woods
posted Jun 16th, 2014 - Evolution member Katie Woods recently caught the special attention of the Sun Path Products NSL News once again, when she filled an open slot for Canada's Bisson family team, 4Astrophe, and posted new Indoor Cloud League scores. 4Astrophe collected ICL points in May for SkyVenture Montreal after posting videos of the AAA (15) and AA (23) Class sequences.

The first story on 6 June 2014 explained how Katie Woods has become a family team expert over the years. The follow-up story on 11 June 2014 went back to the Canadian family topic when 13-year old Yannick Bisson mastered the AAA Class 6-point slot switcher sequence with the posted 15-pointer.

The Sun Path Products NSL News mentioned in both stories how coincidence connected 4way competitor Katie Woods with three different family teams, after she grew up in a skydiving family with younger brother James Woods, who is currently training and competing with UK team Lowabusa.

It was time for the Sun Path Products NSL News to speak with Katie Woods directly, and she took the time last weekend for a new edition of NSL Talk on Skype, while the Evolution jumps at the Paraclete XP Outdoor Championship 2014 are showing her own team in action.

Katie Woods confirmed that all three occasions (NMP-PCH Hayabusa - Evolution - 4Astrophe) happened by coincidence. In fact, it was probably in 2005 when she connected with Hayabusa, and it was Roy Janssen who was the point of contact, neither David nor Andy Grauwels. However, a different outcome of Hayabusa's recruiting efforts at that time could have brought Katie Woods into a family team environment much earlier.

Hayabusa's Center Inside Sven Ibens eventually stepped back in 2006 when the Grauwels brothers and Roy Janssen decided to join the Belgian Army and become full time competitors. Luc Verstrepen became the new Center Inside, and Sven Ibens joined recreational team Thunder ISR a few years later.

Katie Woods with 4Astrophe
Katie Woods reported from Canada that her own team was on a short break after a long training camp in Arizona, where Niklas Hemlin helped Evolution with new valuable input. It was another source of information that the young Canadians collected before they will now go back to their own laboratory with head coach "Papa" Shannon Pilcher.

Katie Woods said that Shannon Pilcher fits very well to the team dynamics, as he has somehow taken a fatherly position for the three Lemay brothers. Michel Lemay, Martin's, Vincent's and Benoit's real father, brought his family lineup from scratch to a 4th place at the Mondial Dubai 2012 before he retired and offered his slot to a new member, who turned out to be Katie Woods.

She said that she has to pay attention to the special communication that a family has developed over the many years as a real family. She noticed the differences again when she recently spent time with 4Astrophe father Richard Bisson and his daughter Valerie and son Yannick. 4Astrophe plans to spend some more tunnel time with Katie Woods whenever she has time off.
