Did You Know...

... that Christy West might compete for the next medals in Dubai?

FAI indoor silver medals for Spaceland Lite
posted Nov 26th, 2014 - The upcoming weekend also brings the ISR Grand Prix 2014 to the online audience, while the teams at the 5th Dubai International Parachuting Championship will have completed their first outdoor rounds on Saturday.

There is still time to cover a few more interesting topics of the FAI World Cup of Indoor Skydiving before the full attention of the Sun Path Products NSL News will shift to Roosendaal and Dubai.

Two of the six teams in Austin probably never thought that they would end up in medal contention in the Open Class competition when they registered for the event. However, US team Spaceland Lite and eXact from Sweden eventually competed for the FAI silver and bronze medals.

eXact for Sweden in Prostejov
The small field of six teams in the Open Class competition allowed Spaceland Lite and eXact to make history by winning the first FAI medals for an indoor competition. Aerokart Deep Blue and HF Chicks both scored higher but had their own category in 4-way Women. Monaco Vitalsea was not eligible for FAI honors, which lifted Spaceland Lite and eXact to the medal positions.

It was a good battle between the Texas team and Sweden's national 4-way team at the FAI World Championship of Formation Skydiving 2014. eXact attended the team's first indoor competition, while Spaceland Lite had also competed at the Paraclete XP Indoor Championship 2014.

The Swedish national team had a great start on the first day of the competition and did not give away any of the first four rounds for a 9-point lead. Spaceland Lite had eventually warmed up and turned the table completely in the last four rounds for a 3-point advantage and the silver medals.

Amanda Lampton (2nd left) with Dallas Khaos Black at the USPA Nationals 2014
Spaceland Lite was the only US team at the FAI Indoor World Cup at iFLY Austin. Texas has a second iFLY tunnel in Dallas, where Dallas Khaos Black member Amanda Lampton is running the Indoor Cloud League events for the regional teams and competitors. Spaceland Lite member Christy West and Amanda Lampton have now joined forces for a special event. They have traveled to Dubai with a US pickup team in 4-way Women.

The team does not have a name yet, however, the lineup is strong and competitive. Kristina Peterson and Rhonda Wilcox are in the other two slots, and Chad Wilcox is filming the team.

Rhonda Wilcox was in the last lineup of the SDC Furies. Her husband Chad Wilcox is Carolina Turbo XP's team videographer. Kristina Peterson has been in several different strong 4-way lineups over the years and still trains and competes with 8-way team Perris Moxie, Advanced Class winner at the USPA Nationals 2014. Christy West might find herself again in medal contention just a few weeks after the indoor competition. This time, there is also a lot of cash on stake for the first three places...
