Did You Know...

... that Teiwaz number 99 is still open?

Bad luck for Peter Ingenhaag (right)
posted Mar 18th, 2015 - Teiwaz has arrived at a very critical point in time after the Paraclete XP Outdoor Championship 2015.

The lineup for the first event of the 2015 season included another new team member, which has brought the number of Teiwaz competitors to 99. Pete Allum joined the lineup in DeLand, which consisted of John Kretzschmer (95), Shannon Pilcher (96), Kurt Gaebel (4) and videographer Albert Berchtold (53).

The magic 100th membership was almost there, as German 4-way competitor Peter Ingenhaag (AtomiX) had signed up before Shannon Pilcher replaced him.

The weather situation did not allow Teiwaz and any other teams to get in the air before Sunday morning, and Peter Ingenhaag had to leave for his retun trip to Germany on Saturday afternoon.

He would have become the 99th Teiwaz member, and Pete Allum would have earned the magic 100, which is now open for the next new member.

Original Teiwaz lineup in 1999
Teiwaz was created by Mary Inhoffer (1) and Pamela Geoffrey (2) in 1999. Mark Stose (3) and Kurt Gaebel (4) were the other two original members, and Seth Cohen (5) was filming the team.

Teiwaz won the Advanced Class gold medals at the USPA Nationals 2000 and then continued to attend Florida Skydiving League meets without much training for a few years.

The original Teiwaz members eventually discontinued and were replaced by substitutes meet by meet and year by year.

Teiwaz had turned into a classical pickup team. However, there have been many Teiwaz repeat offenders who came together on a quite regular basis for certain time periods, like Richard "Rambo" Calledare (6), Rob Larsen (7), Mario Mauro (8), Bruce Robertson (9), Jim Goempel (10), Scott Franklin (11), Robert "Robob" Healy (12), Ron Hill (13), Rusty Lewis (14), Robert Chromy (15), Kristina Peterson (16), Bob Byrne (18), Cherie Schuch (58), Karl Schuch (59), Rodney Cruce (33), Billy Andrews (35).

The Teiwaz lineup also included visitors from other countries (Jesper Rasmussen, Alexandr Voronov, Anton Kovalev, Trude Sviggum, Elena Mazaeva, OlePetr Hjelle, Uli Sehrbrock, Merlin Saareste, Andres Villemson) who happened to be in Florida at meet time.

Once in a while, US top competitors would also join the meet fun. Almost the complete DNR lineup, with the best "amateur" 4-way competitors in the USA have their Teiwaz memberships (Jim "Bu" Klinge - 30, Steve Johnson - 41, Ben Liston - 75). Ari Perelman (37) and Gilles Dutrisac (70) were two of the more frequent Teiwaz competitors over the years.

Nick Grillet (40) is now Carolina Turbo XP's Tail, while JaNette (51) and Steve Lefkowitz (52) joined Teiwaz for a meet when SDC Rhythm XP was not busy on a weekend.

Thiago Gomes (31) competed with Teiwaz before he joined SDC Rhythm XP and now pursues world meet gold medals with Arizona Airspeed.

Two XL members (Steve Hamilton - 63, Thomas Hughes - 25) had competed for Teiwaz before Pete Allum earned the 99 at the Paraclete outdoor meet, and Katie Woods owns #73.

Last not least, the Teiwaz lineup also includes some 4-way and 8-way world champions.

Thomas Hughes competed together with Natasha Montgomery (23) for Teiwaz before DeLand Fire became the 4-way world champions of 2006.

Fire world champion Shannon Pilcher joined the Teiwaz lineup for the first time at the Paraclete XP Championship 2014.

Golden Knights 8-way team captain Sean Sweeney has Teiwaz number 45. He was not even on the Golden Knights 8-way lineup when he joined Teiwaz for a meet.

The Teiwaz lineups include the high-profile competitors once in a while, while they usually keep local and regional 4-way competitors without a team entertained at the meets, before they eventually join or form their own teams.

Jim Prochaska, James Hall and John Kretzschmer are shining recent examples for Teiwaz 4-way entertainment.

Teiwaz usually has a quite casual approach. The last lineup at the Paraclete XP outdoor meet did not lay down even once on the creepers to prepare for the competition jumps...
