Did You Know...

... that the Chatterchicks won the AA Class competition not only in Round 3?

AA Class awards at the World Challenge 2015
posted Apr 23rd, 2015 - The Sun Path Products NSL News brought the UK team Chatterchicks to the attention of the audience with the story on 4 February 2015. It was a preview of the World Challenge 2015, and the all-female lineup was considered one of the medal contenders in the AA Class competition.

It turned out that the Chatterchicks were not only in medal contention. They won the competition with a 17.2 average in a 14-team field.

It was a AA Class world meet, as the 14 teams came from seven different nations. Five of the visiting teams from other countries placed in the rankings behind the Chatterchicks, who won the AA Class competition for the United Kingdom. The Chatterchicks were in fact the only British home team who won in any of the five categories.

Tried to fight back: Blue Rebels from Greece
The Sun Path Products NSL News had the opportunity for a chat with the Chatterchicks before the AA Class teams were back in action for the second half of the meet on Saturday.

They were in 1st place after five rounds, due to an extraordinary performance in Round 3. The fast sequence of only random formations (P,D,E,K) opened up a large gap between the Chatterchicks and the other top contenders in this category. They won the round by six (Dubai Asaar Red) and seven (Blue Rebels) points over the two top contenders and were six points ahead of the Greek team on Friday evening.

The Blue Rebels tried to fight back and turn their 2nd places in 2013 and 2014 into a gold medal position. However, the Chatterchicks had a very consistent performance in the second half of the meet, as well, and added two more points to the lead over Dubai Asaar Red.

Coach Steve Hamilton with Aelia
Only the AAA Class competition has two different leaderboards, one for the Open Class teams and a separate one for 4-way Women. All other categories have combined leaderboards for all lineups, either all-male, all-female or mixed up in any combination. Two other all-female lineups (No Mercy - Poland, Almost Petite - United Kigdom) competed in the AA Class. The Chatterchicks are now moving up into the AAA Class, where they may appear on the 4-way Women leaderboard at the World Challenge next year.

Coach Steve Hamilton had worked with the Chatterchicks since September, and it was the first time for the team to get directions for a longer time period. The results were convincing, and the Chatterchicks will now need more help to learn the additional six AAA Class blocks, together with B-slots and memory.

Steve Hamilton himself competed in the AAA Class, as well, with Aelia and three other British female 4-way competitors...
