Did You Know...

... that the results of the NSL SkyVenture Orlando Competition on June 18 are now posted?

NSL SkyVenture Orlando Competiton
posted Aug 1st, 2005 - The NSL headquarters has still not been able to fix the flaw that has been bothering the calculation of the handicap for the NSL SkyVenture Orlando Competition. However, the flaw does not interfere with the scores of all meet weekends. It is in the way whenever teams compete that have attended meet in different leagues.

Some meet weekends still have to wait for the final calculations, while others can already be processed at this point in time. The NSL now took on the meet weekend of June 18 and added the scores after handicap to the previous results of the NSL SkyVenture Orlando Competition.

Teiwa-Z-Hills June line-up
The June 18 weekend created very large scoring tables that show the raw scores and the handicapped scores below. A total of 83 teams in the USA and Europe competed in the four NSL competition classes.

It was the meet weekend with the fastest competition draw of the 2005 season. Team Evolution of the CanAm Skydiving League, the new Canadian 4-way champion 2005, limited the calculation of the NSL SkyVenture Orlando Competition in the AAA Class to three rounds due to the weather conditions in Canada that weekend.

Fastrax finished on top of the 29-team field before handicap with a 22.8 average after six rounds. Fastrax also ended up in second place after handicap since this impressive meet average was significantly higher than Fastrax' previous scores in 2005. Only Teiwa-Z-Hills ended up slightly ahead of Fastrax and took the first place and the 30-minute tunnel time provided by SkyVenture Orlando.

NPSL AA Class team Microburst
The scoreboard below shows that Netherlands Punky Fish and Team ZHills went into this weekend's race with the 1.00 benchmark handicap. The reason is behind the fact that both teams had not attended any 2005 meets before June 18. The rules of the game give teams the handicap after the first three rounds of their first competition. The Punky Fish and ZHills averages after three rounds were much higher than the season averages of all other teams, including Fastrax, and made them go into the NSL SkyVenture Orlando Competition without a handicap.

21 teams competed in the AA Class. The teams of the Virginia Parachute Council completed only five rounds and stopped the game one round earlier. Team Cross Keys made its 2005 debut, took the first place before handicap after six rounds with a 12.2 meet average and set the benchmark for the NSL SkyVenture Orlando Competition after three rounds.

MWSL A Class team Skydive Chicago Furies
Microburst of the Northern Plains Skydiving League was the most improved team of the AA Class (5.8 - 8.3), followed by Soylent Greene of the Mideast Skydiving League (7.5 - 9.5), and will receive a 30-minute certificate of free tunnel time from SkyVenture Orlando.

Skydive Chicago's Furies made it very easy and clear in the A Class. The benchmark of a 1.00 handicap was set by the UK team Damn Zebra after three rounds. However, the Furies beat the UK team by one point for the first place before handicap and improved the team's meet average between the May and June meets dramatically (7.2 - 10.5) for an uncontested first place in the A Class SkyVenture Competition after handicap. The Furies are also currently holding the second place in the national A Class Rankings.

MESL Rookie Class team Fourway Fourplay
The Rookie Class competition had a record participation of 13 teams, more than enough to justify a 30-minute tunnel time certificate for the winner of the NSL SkyVenture Orlando Competition. The 1.00 benchmark handicap was once again taken by a UK team, Fork, after the first three rounds of the meet in Europe.

Fourway Fourplay of the Mideast Skydiving League improved the team performance from a 4.8 average in May to the 7.2 average after the six rounds of the June 18 meet weekend. The 30-minute SkyVenture Orlando certificate will be sent to the MESL Director Randy Connell in Indiana who will forward it to Fourway Fourplay at the next meet. Congratulations to all the winners of the NSL SkyVenture Orlando Competition.
