Did You Know...

... that the female 4-way teams show consistency and progression?

New record numbers: Aerokart Deep Blue
posted Oct 17th, 2010 - NSL-TV has prepared the videos of the first two rounds of the female 4-way competition at the World Championship of Formation Skydiving 2010, and they are now available for reviews.

All ten rounds of the French gold medalist, Aerokart Deep Blue, were uploaded earlier, and the NSL News story on 11 August 2010 explained that Sophie Deremaux, Bérangère Duplouy, Françoise Simons-Hamouchi and Amélie Tirman oriented themselves not only on the scores in their own category. They compared their performance also with the teams in the Open Class competition and did not have to be shy of doing so.

Fact is that Aerokart Deep Blue was tied with Open Class team Sinapsi after ten rounds and would have made it into the finals in this category. The NSL News is waiting for an update from France. Next goal for Deep Blue could be a medal position in the Open Class - directly or indirectly.

Consistency and progression in the female 4-way category: red = scoring, blue = participation
The new videos show all teams in the female 4-way category with their first two rounds. The participation in the female 4-way category was consistent compared to the earlier world meets in the past decade. In fact, the number of eight teams was identical with the participation in 2008.

The scoring progression in the female 4-way category is also consistent, and Aerokart Deep Blue makes the chart look really good. The jump from 20.0 at the World Meet 2008 to 23.6 in Menzelinsk was the biggest one in the history of the female 4-way event.

The fast sequence of Round 3 was surely helpful for posting a record average, however, the Deep Blue performance was not only impressive because of the new record numbers. Comparing the scores directly with the Open Class teams makes it very realistic though.

Stole the 4th place from Norway: ISB Air
The same Top 3 nations of 2008 won all the medals again, but the rankings were different this year. Even the lineups of the medal winners were almost identical. Only Team Bodyflight had significant personnel changes.

The field in the female 4-way competition was still quite different compared to 2008. Germany and Norway came back, both with new linups though. The new German national team, ISB Air, took the 4th place that Fortitudo had won for Norway in 2008.

Australia, Belgium and Spain did not have a female 4-way team in Menzelisnk. Russia, Sweden and China took those slots and filled the leaderboard to match the 2008 participation. The three new national teams all ended up behind the nations that returned from the World Meet 2008. The NSL News will follow up soon with the next videos of the female 4-way competition.
