Did You Know...

... that Satori helped 10 Academy teams while posting the 20.0 average at the UK Nationals 2012?

Satori scoring progression
posted Aug 19th, 2012 - The NSL News reported on 21 July 2012 that UK 4way champion Satori had seven Academy teams at the July meet in Hibaldstow and followed up with a review of Satori's performance at the same event on 27 July 2012.

Then the NSL News covered the UK Nationals 2012 with the first story on 13 August 2012, which was mostly related to the female 4way competition between Sweden's guest team Fire and UK's national team Bodyflight Aerodyne Langar.

It is about time to catch up with other parts of the record breaking event, as 72 teams competed in Hibaldstow and brought the number for the highest attendance up from 55 in 2011.

Satori is again in the spotlight, this time with the 20.0 average performance over ten rounds at the UK Nationals 2011.

It is not the highest meet average that UK's national 4way team has ever posted, as the graph shows. However, the highest average in team history was supported by the Super Sequence at the World Meet 2010 in Menzelinsk, and the 20.0 average last weekend has a completely different value considering the cirumstances.

It was the highest Satori average in a 10-round meet this year and with the new lineup, which has Ian "Milko" Hodgkinson in the Point slot. More importantly, the 20.0 average was scored while the team was coaching the other ten (!!!) teams of the Satori Academy at the same time.

Julia Foxwell explained to the NSL News that none of the Satori members was in a player coach slot at this year's championship event. Satori has recently made an effort to leave the teams alone in freefall with complete lineups and without any help: "We felt that it would be better, and fairer, if all the teams jumped by themselves. Yeh, we were still coaching the teams, plus the others that we have worked with throughout the year. It wasnt too bad though, and people understood that we were also competing."

She added that it felt good for the team to break back into the 20-average level: "We feel things are coming together and we are really looking forward to the World Cup!"

The situation at the World Meet 2012 will be very different. Satori will have all the time in the world to focus on the team performance.

The 4way competition at the UK Nationals takes place on a weekend, while the international events have a 5-day time frame, which is split between 4way and 8way.

There are no coaching jobs for Satori members at the World Cup in Prostejov, and the British team can fully focus on the Thunder challenge for the top spot in the unofficial battle of the "amateur teams".

Medals are also in reach, as no US teams are registered for the competition, and the German team Paratec-Saar showed last year how to grab a set of medals. The NSL News will be report live from Prostejov.
