Did You Know...

... that Rookie Class teams from the the Northwest and Carolina had a great battle last weekend?

Fun Yeah - Fun Sponge/Yeah Team combination
posted Sep 21st, 2012 - The 2012 season of the Northwest Skydiving League has also come to its end, even though the indoor showdown with the Florida Skydiving League (iFLY Seattle - iFLY Orlando) will still continue for the remainder of the year.

The two NWSL Rookie Class teams created an interesting overall leaderboard in this category last weekend, as there was a great race with the three Rookie Class teams of the Carolina Skydiving League. Blame Game (CASL) and Sloppy Joes (NWSL) both attended their third meet of the 2012 season and ended up tied in 1st place after the four rounds that both teams completed.

Behind that, Air Heads could only stay ahead of Fun Yeah due to the 0-pointer of the NWSL team in Round 2.

Battle with Blame Game: Sloppy Joes
Fun Yeah was composed of two members of a Rookie Class lineup at the previous two NWSL meets (Yeah Team: Rani Abdellitif, Monika Brunnenkant) and two Fun Sponge members (Jay Alspach, Brittany Crolley). The Fun Yeah scramble continued during the meet, as Brittany Crolley and Monika Brunnenkant had to be replaced in the last round due to sickness and injury, respectively. Rookie competitiors Bill Clem and Barry Repp filled the slots.

NWSL Director Deb Correia also reported that Sloppy Joes had the same lineup as in August for the first three rounds. David Zhang then replaced Dave Correia for the last two rounds. She said that the Sloppy Joes members have done some tunnel time since the August meet and that is shows. The combination with decent exits resulted in the team's best average of the 2012 season and the 1st place on the Rookie Class leaderboard, together with Blame Game.

Sinner-G, with Andrey Ulanov, Helen Ursachii, Andrey Marenich, Anar Seyf, and Vasiliy Boulytchev on camera, has eventually made the move up from the Rookie Class to the A Class after scoring for NWSL/iFLY Seattle at the indoor meets in this category. Deb Correia said that the team had practiced many of the blocks in the wind tunnel. However, last weekend was the first time that the team executed them in freefall.

Up into the A Class in freefall: Sinner-G
Deb Correia rounded up the NWSL 2012 season with a summary: "Sloppy Joes made huge progress throughout the year. Coached by Dave Correia, the team has worked on their skills in the tunnel, and it showed! In the July meet, the team had a 1.0 average. They upped that to a 5.6 average for the last meet. The team is composed of Andrew Gaiovyi, Djordje Mandaric, Denis Pershakov, and for September, Cody Goodrum flew camera. This was Cody's first time doing 4way video, and he did a great job!"

"This was a great season in the Northwest after so many years without any NSL 4way competitions, and teams are already forming to practice through the winter to be ready for next season."

Some of the NWSL competitors and coaches will also attend the USPA Nationals 2012 in Eloy, while the indoor showdown with Florida will run parallel with the preparations for the national championships and the 2013 season.
