Picking up the pace in Round 2: NMP-PCH Hayabusa
posted Nov 29th, 2012 - Arizona Airspeed is holding the 1st place after two clean rounds. NMP-PCH Hayabusa was ready to catch up after falling two points behind in Round 1 and picked up the pace. Two point deductions reduced the Belgian score to match Airspeed's 34-pointer, and nothing has changed. Aerodyne Aerokart lost two points, as well, and the French world champions of 2010 find themselves in 3rd place after Round 2, five points behind the gold medal position.

The French Aerodyne Deep Blue Defenders fought back in the female 4way category and tied the Golden Knights in the top spot. Polaris delivered a strong 25-pointer and put some distance between Norway and Russia.

The judges have finished their work day, and the missing two 4way scores for Evolution and the Brit Chicks will be added as soon as possible. The VFS 4way and 8way teams completed only one round.

Boat trip to the Palm Jumeira Island
The NSL News took some time during the day for a boat trip to the Palm Jumeira Island. That's where the landing area for the 4way and 8way teams is located, right on the beach.

NMP-PCH Hayabusa member Roy Janssen mentioned earlier today that the visuals over the water can be distracting at times and when a team is not used to it: "There is blue.everywhere", he said. The NSL News was asking some competitors after the landings how they felt performing in freefall and then hanging over the ocean water.

One of the teams who landed on the island during the NSL News visit was Spain's 4way team, including another long standing FS competitor, Ivan Coufal. He is also former part-owner of Skydive Empuriabrava, the busiest skydiving center in Europe. He attended his first world meet in 1987. He also confirmed that Skydive Dubai has recently bought his former business. The NSL News live coverage of the Mondial 2012 continues tomorrow morning.
