Did You Know...

... that the Dubai Asaar Ladies outscored the Asaar Open Class team for the first time?

Alena Chistova for Russia at the World Meet 2003
posted Mar 17th, 2015 - The Paraclete XP competition week included another very interesting internal battle between two teams who sometimes appear on the same leaderboard, and who are separated at other times. Dubai Asaar Gold is currently the national 4-way team in the Open Class for the United Arab Emirates, while the Dubai Asaar Ladies compete for their country in 4-way Women.

The Dubai team project began when Eliana Rodriguez and Craig Girard moved to Dubai after the World Meet 2010 in Russia with the mission to build a Formation Skydiving competition community. They recruited the members for two 4-way lineups, who would also soon begin with 8-way training and competition.

Shortly after the start of this team project, Skydive Dubai also invited the Russian world class competitor Alena Chistova to form a female lineup for the 4-way Women category. The former member of Russian national 4-way and 8-way teams took on the challenging task in a very different gender culture.

Alena Chistova worked on her own project side by side with Eliana Rodriguez and Craig Girard and was ready for the team's first competition at the USPA Nationals 2012. The Sun Path Products NSL News had the opportunity for a conversation with the Dubai Asaar Ladies in Eloy.

It has been challenging enough for the team members and the coaches to maintain a consistent roster for a longer period of time. However, the female lineup went through personnel changes, which even included a pregnancy and a happy mother with a successful comeback, while former videographer and team member Angelique Pierry is now ready to be the next new mother in the team.

The two Dubai Asaar lineups with only boys in the Open Class and the Asaar Ladies have been training and competing with and against each other since the USPA Nationals 2012, and the boys have always had the upper hand, despite their own frequent personnel changes.

The leaderboards of the two Paraclete events were showing the two Dubai teams neck to neck in the rankings, only the ranking order was different for the first time. The Dubai Asaar Ladies outscored the Open Class lineup for the first time.

Both teams have recently been training and competing with their player coaches, Alena Chistova and Craig Girard, who will step back again as soon as possible. The Sun Path Products NSL News had explained the situation of the Open Class team on 22 February 2015, and Alena Chistova is also hoping to have her complete lineup back together soon.

Dubai Asaar Gold and Dubai Asaar Ladies are not done yet with their internal competition. They will be separated again on two different leaderboards at the World Challenge 2015. However, the look across will once again feature the next Dubai duel in Bedford, and the pressure is on the girls...
