Did You Know...

... that Kimmo and Kalle Pohjola connect whenever Block 22 is drawn?

26.1 at the FAI Indoor World Meet 2019: Pro Team
posted Sep 26th, 2019 - Indoor competition even continued throughout the European summer season, while most of the teams focus on launching exit formations from jump planes.

Finland did not have a national 4-way championship this year, as not enough teams signed up for the competition. However, the Finnish September part of the World Tunnel League attracted eight teams to the Fööni wind tunnel in Helsinki.

The Pro Team trains and competes at outdoor events, as well, and they plan to travel to Tanay next year for the World Championship of Formation Skydiving, as the NSL News reported on June 22nd. The same story pointed out that Finland's national 4-way team increased their previous 24+ performance level to 26.1 at the indoor meet in June and skipped the 25+ level.

The September meet would show whether the Pro Team was able to repeat the 26+ performance or not. It turned out that they confirmed the scoring level and finished with a new 26.2 team record average, despite a total of six point deductions.

Unchanged lineup since February 2018: Kimmo Pohjola - Eija Suvala - Kalle Pohjola - Emilia Sormunen
The Pro Team had finished with a 24.6 average in 11th place at the FAI Indoor World Meet 2019, one point behind HF Flying Circus in 10th place. The 26.2 average would almost guarantee a Top 10 spot at indoor world meets or any other major international events, and the Pro Team pace indicates that the next 27+ level is not very far away either.

The Pro Team lineup has now been unchanged at indoor and outdoor events since April 2017, when Outi Pohjola competed for the last time for the Pro Team at the World Challenge.

Father Kimmo Pohjola is still in his outside center slot, while Kalle Pohjola is the team's tail. Father and son still don't have many situations where they work directly together, as they do their jobs in different pieces. They connect once in a while when sequences with certain blocks (3,4,17,20) are drawn.

There is still only one block where they work together in the same 2-way piece. Most teams build the cat piece of Block 22 (T - Chinese T) with outside center and tail. Kimmo and Kalle Pohjola did the same, this time in Round 8 of the September competition...
