posted Oct 9th, 2019 - The FAI Outdoor World Cup was on a wind hold on Wednesday just when the 4-way teams had completed their 6th round. Meet director Brian Byrke at least accomplished his first goal, which was the 6th round in 4-way.

The previous NSL Reality TV video clip had included a time when Bryan Burke addressed teams in the loading area with advice for the increasingly challenging weather conditions. The first dust devils were whirling around the Skydive Arizona facilities and needed to be watched for safety reasons. Eventually, they appeared too frequently, and Bryan Burke put the whole meet on a wind hold.

The NSL News used the break for the next NSL Live Talk, this time again with regular commentator Joey Jones. He is also competing with his British team Eros and follows the competition on the leaderboards of all events.

The Arizona sun and the dust devils even had their impact on the NSL-TV recordings. Joey Jones braved the sun for the interview in the recreational area of Skydive Arizona, where the sun was beating down on people and equipment. The NSL News camera was eventually shut down automatically for self-protection after eight minutes of recording time, due to the increasing temperature of the equipment.

Joey Jones had completed his evaluation of the 4-way Open Class competition, and the new topic before the shutdown was the 4-way Women competition. He said that the situation is very similar in both 4-way events, where the two top spots are taken and not much competed for any longer.

The battles are taking place behind the gold and silver medal positions. Airspeed Odyssey and Defiance are tied in 3rd place after Round 6, and Sweden's Echochamber is still in reach of bronze medals with a difference of only two points. Even the French 4-way Open Class team, Chimera and Pro Team are not that far behind the bronze medal position.

The battle for bronze has been impacted heavily by penalties, as the 4-way Open Class leaderboard is showing. Airspeed Odyssey have not had a clean round yet, while most of the point deductions were caused by video troubles. The third reunion of the 2006 lineup will probably win the bronze medals if the damaging video troubles can be resolved.

The situation is the same in 4-way Women where Skynamite from Germany and U.S. team Phoenix XP were tied after Round 5. The U.S. team is still missing a score for Round 6, as substitute Brianne Thompson is competing in 4-way VFS with Arizona X-Force at the same time. She was also busy chasing the Fun Flag with her VFS team and won this competition by stealing the flag from Norway's VFS team. The NSL News will follow up soon...
