Did You Know...

... that two Bad Boys joined forces with two Flying Rebels?

Klapka family at the Hurricane Factory in 2012
posted Jan 18th, 2022 - Jan Klapka's Czech part of the World Tunnel League has been back on track since November last year, even though indoor and outdoor Formation Skydiving competition is still heavily impacted by the ongoing corona virus crisis.

The founder and organizer of the Czech Tunnel League and of the 4-way junior project at the Hurricane Factory used to divide the Czech 4-way year in two parts. The indoor season begins in November when the weather does not allow much jumping from planes any longer in Central Europe, and the last indoor meet is usually scheduled for April. Then the Czech teams turn back to outdoor training and regular competition at the meets of the Czech Skydiving League.

The Czech teams also participate all year long at the events of the Indoor Cloud League. The 4-way junior teams and competitors are naturally limited to indoor training anyway and train at the Hurricane Factory without breaks for any outdoor events.

This pattern has been very reliable since 2012, and it was only interrupted when the pandemic changed everything in 2020. Jan Klapka tried to improvise as good as possible throughout this complicated time period. He still could not maintain the usual schedule, and the Czech ICL team even lost the top spot on the annual leaderboard after missing several months.

HF Flying Rebels - HF Chameleons at the January Meet of the Czech Tunnel League
Small outdoor events in 2000 and 2001
It was not much better for outdoor training and competition in the Czech Republic in 2020 and 2021. The national championships took place both years, with very small participation, and the same teams attended one additional meet in the summer.

However, the beginning of the next Czech indoor season at the Hurricane Factory resumed with the schedule of the successful indoor/outdoor combination between 2012 and 2019. 15 Czech 4-way teams were back for the season opener in November, and 14 of them came back for the December meet.

The new year began with the 3rd meet of the Czech Tunnel League 2021/2022 earlier this month, and 12 teams used the next competition opportunity in Prague.

HF Cubs finished slightly behind their previous results, after a meltdown in Round 7, which allowed HF Flying Circus to steal one of the highscores. Former Bad Boys member Marian Jeziak substituted for Dagmar Bezdeková with HF Flying Circus.

New senior opponents in the Rookie Class: Smart Fish
Marian Jeziak substituted for another team at the same event, this time together with his former Bad Boys team mate Jan Klapka. Maruska Psenickova and Martin Stránský were not available for HF Flying Rebels, and the Bad Boys seniors joined forces with the two Flying Rebels, Denisa Jeziakova and Krystof Rulf.

This gave the HF Chameleons juniors an opportunity to challenge the Czech national team in 4-way Junior, and they finished with a new team record average for a AAA Class draw. Jan Klapka and Marian Jeziak had to work hard with their junior partners to carry a 2-point advantage over the finish line.

There was an even closer race in the Rookie Class. Two new senior teams, Dycky Most and MCBP, joined the Czech Tunnel League at the beginning of the indoor season in November and have not missed a meet yet. MCBP won the first two meets quite easily, even though Dycky Most was much closer in December.

The team from Jan Klapka's home dropzone increased their meet average again significantly this month (10.0 - 13.2 - 15.1) and won the January duel by one point. The Smart Fish juniors were still able to outscore two of their parents from Dycky Most in November, before the seniors started picking up the pace...
