Did You Know...

... that NMP PCH HayaBusa and ISR FireFlash went neck to neck at the Belgian indoor championship?

Belgian Indoor Nationals at Ice Mountain Adventure Park
posted Mar 22nd, 2022 - The four teams of the Belgian 4-way delegation for the FAI Indoor World Cup 2022 all used their last opportunity for a serious competition test at their national indoor championships at a different location, the Ice Mountain Adventure Park.

The results did not offer any surprises, as the Belgian teams finished in the expected order, even though NMP PCH HayaBusa had to work hard to maintain the domestic top position. ISR FireFlash finished with exactly the same 28.1 average that they posted at their last indoor competition, the Wind Games in January 2020, which was challenging enough for the new HayaBusa lineup.

The latest NSL Power Rankings in the preview of the indoor world cup on March 15th were showing NMP PCH HayaBusa and ISR FireFlash tied in 2nd place, together with the Swedish national team, Echochamber Oceanside. The same three teams are expected to battle for the position behind the undisputed top contender, Arizona Airspeed.

ISR FireFlash confirmed the position of a serious and direct opponent for the still reigning indoor world champions, even though this would have been unthinkable at ISR FireFlash's last indoor competition, where HayaBusa finished 67 points ahead (348 - 281). The same 28.1 average sets FireFlash now in the position of a silver medal contender in Charleroi, after finishing three points behind NMP PCH HayaBusa.

Falco with Paul Hofstee in 2019
None of this situation is much surprising, as the NSL News has covered comprehensively how NMP PCH HayaBusa is in the middle of a restart with the new lineup. In fact, a 2nd place at the upcoming indoor world cup would probably be an unexpected success for HayaBusa, and it would also include the European indoor championship title.

However, there is no doubt that Sweden's Echochamber will be well prepared to challenge the two Belgian teams for the FAI silver medals and Europe's top position. Arizona Airspeed will not be on the leaderboard of the European Indoor Championship and can only take the world cup title.

Falco is back in 3rd place on the Belgian leaderboard, after losing the position behind NMP PCH HayaBusa and ISR FireFlash when Paul Hofstee left the team to train and compete with the former German national team AtomiX for the last outdoor world meet.

AtomiX did not continue after withdrawing from the FAI Tanay Mondial 2020, and Paul Hofstee was available for a comeback with Falco.

From 10.2 in A Class to 20.0 in AAA: Ayro in 2017
The timing was almost perfect for Falco, who lost Neal Willems when he was recruited as the new inside center for NMP PCH HayaBusa. Neal Willems had joined Falco after his first team time with FS ONE in Belgium.

Falco had him as a team member only for a year before NMP PCH HayaBusa offered him the inside center slot. Another year later, his former Falco team mates were watching him winning the Belgian indoor championship title with a 28.4 average.

Falco happily welcomed Paul Hofstee back in the same lineup that trained and competed together in 2019, and they picked up the pace almost exactly on the same scoring level (20.8 - 21.0) of their last meet together, the Belgian Indoor Nationals in December 2019.

Ayro and Phoenix will complete the Belgian 4-way delegation in Charleroi, and Ayro will probably move up a few slots in the next NSL Power Rankings for the indoor world cup. They entered the 20-level at the Belgian indoor nationals by lifting their best AAA Class average from 18.3 to 20.0 last week. Ayro could join a battle of several teams around the 20+ average level.
