... that the combined 4-way leaderboard is showing strong 4-way Women presence?

French 4-way Open team on the way to a competition jump
posted Oct 21st, 2022 - The 4-way competition on Friday at the FAI Outdoor World Meet was over after Round 4, as meet director Randy Connell had planned it. The 8-way teams began with their first round early in the afternoon and will probably complete their own four rounds, as well.

There were no big surprises on the two 4-way leaderboards, compared to the NSL Power Rankings. Arizona Airspeed had a slow start and needed two rounds until they finally put the other three top teams into place. Airspeed is now 14 points ahead after the first four rounds.

The competition for the 2nd place is as tight as expected, and the two new lineups of NMP PCH HayaBusa and France are ahead of the Qatar Tigers. However, every round could change the order between the same three teams, and one of them will still end up without a set of FAI medals.

The expected four teams behind the medal contenders (Papea, Chimera, Echochamber, Airbus) have taken their positions in the race for the highest placing behind the Top 4. The Canadian Bisson family team 4Astrophe is the team of the meet so far and challenge the same four teams for the highest placings behind the 4-way pros. Out of the Blue (Netherlands) and Agera (Norway) are tied in 10th place, Ripper from Australia is also in the battle for the last Top 10 position.

Friendly competition between Arizona Airspeed and NMP PCH HayaBusa
The 4-way leaderboard with all its internal duels and battles becomes even more interesting by combining it with the 4-way Women event. The three teams in the medal positions of the female event are all lined up next to each other on the combined 4-way leaderboard.

NFTO perform even strongly enough to join NMP PCH HayaBusa, France and Qatar Tigers in their 3-team battle for 4-way Open Class silver and bronze medals. They are currently only two points behind Qatar Tigers. XPG4 and French Nephtys are tied with Spain's military Papea CISM team and ahead of Chimera and Echochamber behind the 4-way Open Class medal positions.

NFTO and Chimera also have their own British business going at the same time. Chimera won the British Outdoor Nationals in August in the absence of the 4-way Women team. NFTO have all reason to show that they are still the strongest British 4-way team in their race for the FAI gold medals. They are currently eight points ahead of Chimera.

The addition of the three 4-way Women top teams defines the Top 10 spot more clearly at this point in time. Airbus and 4Astrophe are ending up behind the 10th place that Echochamber is holding strongly and with increasing momentum. However, there are six more rounds to come, and a lot can still change at any time on this tight leaderboard.
