Did You Know...

... that NMP PCH HayaBusa's Neal Willems does not have a twin brother?

posted Jan 16th, 2023 - The latest HayaBusa story actually began at the ESL Championship 2022, while the Belgian team did not even compete at the event. The NSL News update on 23 September 2022 only explained how the newest and youngest NMP PCH HayaBusa member, Neal Willems, ended up in a team without any prior plans of participating.

It was a funny story, as the recruiters of the team, who were short of a 4th member, did not even know who he was when they asked him to join:

"The Camera Flyers were still one team member short, and they were asking local skydivers to join the team. They found a 'Neal' who was willing to step in. They promised him to 'engineer all formations around him' under the assumption by the Camera Flyers that he did not have a lot of 4-way experiences. When new NMP PCH HayaBusa member Neal Willems put on his yellow Javelin gear and the HayaBusa jumpsuit, he was finally identified."

Several months have gone by after Neal Willems was finally identified by his jumpsuit at the ESL Championship, and the NSL News has covered any interesting news coming from Belgium ever since. The most exciting one was HayaBusa's commitment to the Shamrock Showdown in March, where the world's Top 4 of the FAI Outdoor World Championship 2022 will face each other again, together with additional teams on the open leaderboards in all categories.

The ISR Grand Prix 2022 took place two months after the ESL Championship in September, and NMP PCH HayaBusa left the top of the leaderboard open for other European teams in Roosendaal. However, after the review of the participating teams' photos it appeared as if there was once again a HayaBusa member in the lineup of another team.

NMP PCH HayaBusa competed neither in Roosendaal nor at the ESL Championship, which still does not mean that a team member might not fill a slot for another team, as Neal Willem had done in September. The locations of ESL Championship and ISR Grand Prix, are not far from the HayaBusa headquarters in Belgium.

It was the HayaBusa jumpsuit that eventually revealed Neal Willems as a substitute team member of the Camera Flyers at the ESL Championship, and it was once again a HayaBusa jumpsuit that caught the attention in Roosendaal. There would probably be no reason why any HayaBusa member might not be able to fill an open slot for a team at the ISR Grand Prix. The HayaBusa jumpsuit stood out when the team photos were provided by the host. One member of the Dutch team Mad Moves was unmistakeably wearing a HayaBusa jumpsuit, as well.

It also seemed to be quite obvious that Neal Willems was the person wearing it, which would only fit to the ESL Championship story, where he also filled an open slot for a team. However, even though the Mad Moves member (whose name still has to be discovered) looks like Neal Willems, it was neither himself nor a twin brother.

After mistakenly detecting Neal Willems in the Mad Moves lineup, the NSL News contacted NMP PCH HayaBusa to learn more about his newest adventure filling a slot for another team. David Grauwels told the NSL News that it was not Neal Willems in the Mad Moves lineup, and the following fact-checking conversation between NSL News, David Grauwels and Neal Willems turned into a very entertaining story with several different variations. HayaBusa captain Dennis Praet eventually identified the team as Mad Moves.

Neal Willems does not have a twin brother, and he also did not participate anonymously under cover due to potential military regulations, which would make no sense in his HayaBusa jumpsuit anyway. It simply was not Neal Willems who competed for Mad Moves in Roosendaal.

Mad Moves started last year at the Tomscat Trophy (without the HayaBusa jumpsuit) and followed up at the ISR Grand Prix (with the HayaBusa jumpsuit). They had a great duel with former Dutch national team Cool Runnings, whose story fits well to the Neal Willems stories...

P.S.: Sources informed the NSL News that Mad Moves member Alex Hale is not Neal Willems' twin brother...
