Rewarded and honored: Arizona Airspeed at the FAI Indoor World Championship
posted Apr 21st, 2023 - The next team featured in NSL-TV Unfiltered at the FAI Indoor World Championship 2023 was Arizona Airspeed. The whole turnaround action of the outdoor world champions to Round 7 is now available for the audience.

It was another round with a sole highscore for Arizona Airspeed, and the distance to France in 2nd place has grown to 16 points after Round 8. The current lineup is still far ahead of any opponents at the moment, and it seems like they control the world's 4-way competition at their own will at this point in time.

Round 1 and the situation at the end of the first day may have given at least France some hope that there is a chance to remain within striking distance, and Airspeed simply picked up the pace a bit and ran away from the field once again. It was in fact NMP PCH HayaBusa who managed to lose the last three rounds only by one point each time, even though Airspeed also outscored the Belgians by six points in the four rounds on Friday.

Arizona Airspeed will finally be rewarded and honored accordingly on the last day of the competition, with semifinals and finals in Round 9 and Round 10. The 4-year old starting order of the results at the FAI Indoor World Championship 2019 was adjusted after Round 8, according to the FAI/ISC regulations, and Arizona Airspeed will conclude the last two rounds as the leader in 4-way Open. All other teams will enter the flying chamber in the reversed current ranking order, as well.

Arizona Airspeed preparations for Round 7
France 4-way Women ready for Round 7 re-flight
The competition behind Arizona Airspeed is as exciting as it was expected to be. The most recent NSL Power Rankings indicated that the French national team and NMP PCH HayaBusa would probably battle for the 2nd place, and they are currently separated by three points. The Qatar Tigers are safe in 4th place in their last days of the Ramadan holidays.

The German Jochen Schweizer Arena Airfource were expected to be one of the top contenders for the 5th place, together with Italy's FLY X, as Gary Smith and Kirk Verner pointed out during the NSL Live Talk. The three German CISM Bundeswehr soldiers with former Airbus member Christian Schaefer have actually created a comfortable lead over the other contenders for the 5th place. Only the 6th place seems to be left available, and the Airfource have their eyes on the Qatar Tigers. Five teams are separated by two points for the unofficial amateur title and seem to have secured their Top 10 spots. Norway's Agera have to make up at least six points in the last two rounds to claim a Top 10 position.

The situation on the 4-way Women leaderboard was affected by a re-flight of the three teams in the medal positions after Round 6. France, XPG4 and NFTO were required to repeat the sequence of Round 7 that they had already performed earlier. The request came from the meet management or the judges, and the circumstances are still unclear. Fact is that the scores after the re-flight impacted on the 4-way Women leaderboard, and the 1-point difference between France and XPG4 turned into a 9-point advantage for France after Round 8.
