... that XPG4 battle with NMP PCH HayaBusa and Qatar Tigers?

On the way to FS Sweep: U.S. delegation in Voss
posted Aug 22nd, 2023 - The first day of competition at the FAI Outdoor World Cup 2023 continued with the weather pattern of the two training days that the NSL News witnessed at Skydive Voss. The situation changes quickly, and the host is perfectly prepared to deal with it.

It was impressive that the 4-way teams were in the middle of Round 3 at noon, despite a few necessary breaks for weather holds. The three Cessna Caravans are in the air whenever the weather situation allows competition rounds, and the Twin Otter will join the action for 8-way competition very soon.

The top of the 4-way leaderboards after the completion of Round 2 mirror the situation that was expected. Arizona Airspeed and XPG4 have already distanced themselves from the rest of the field, Airspeed by five points, XPG4 by nine points over the French national teams in both events.

GKXP8 will soon and most likely take a similar lead in 8-way, and the U.S. Formation Skydiving Sweep is on the way. The 8-way teams have been on stand-by since 10 am, and they are just waiting for the completion of today's 4-way competition.

In 3rd place after Round 2: Meltemi Oceanside
The 4-way Women team from China did not show up in Voss and had to be removed from the leaderboard. Germany's Meltemi Oceanside are now in contention for the bronze medals and took the 3rd place in Round 2. Team members Linda Köb and Petra Jastram have already one set of FAI bronze medals in their collection, after the 3rd place with Piteraq at the FAI Indoor World Cup 2022.

Germany's 4-way teams live up to their expectations right before their national outdoor championships. Airbus Illertissen Oceanside has taken the 5th place after Round 2, which is arguably the most desired position behind the four medal contenders. Several strong teams are lineup up behind Airbus to use the remaining eight rounds to their own advantage.

XPG4 are looking at the 4-way Open Class leaderboard to find their competition for the same sequences. They are battling with NMP PCH HayaBusa and Qatar Tigers for the 3rd place behind Arizona Airspeed and France on the combined AAA Class leaderboard.

The Qatar Lions fell victim to a video issue in Round 1 and have to digest the zero for Round 1. It was a flawless video recording and display, which just did not match the new FAI/ISC requirements for the resolution, which has already raised question marks about the necessity for the very new rule. The Qatar delegation has filed a protest.
