Did You Know...

... that the Indoor Cloud League features the highscores for February and March?

posted Apr 23rd, 2024 - The indoor competition winter season has come to an end after FAI/IPC's world championships or world cups since 2019. That was the first year when the International Skydiving Commission (ISC) of the Federation Aeronautique Internationale/World Air Sports Federation (FAI) switched the event dates from the fall to spring in Europe and the western hemisphere.

FAI/ISC adopted indoor competition in 2014, after watching the success of other large indoor meets for many years. Between 2014 and 2018, it was not unusual that the FAI/ISC indoor events were scheduled on a date before the outdoor season was over, and teams had to switch back and forth between the two very different environments.

The situation is still the same in different ways, as participating teams in early and popular outdoor events (Shamrock Showdown, Valentine's Meet) and teams in the eastern hemisphere (Australia, New Zealand, Asia) still have to switch back and forth between indoor and outdoor training and competition. Most of the teams and competitors in horizontal Formation Skydiving competition use indoor training all year long, as it is a highly valuable training tool, especially in the earlier stages of a 4-way/8-way career. The Indoor Cloud League events are offering opportunities for skills and team development all year long, as they can easily run parallel with outdoor activities, and ICL coaches and organizers are helping with the guidance of indoor participants to outdoor training and competition.

ICL RRR Class Highscore in March: Volaticus for iFLY Fort Lauderdale
iFLY Dallas has been one of the four Indoor Cloud League teams who posted scores and videos in February and March, after three teams had launched the ICL 2024 season in January. The first April results will be submitted at the end of the month.

The results in the last two months were very similar on the top of the leaderboards, where the Czech team and iFLY Dallas have established their positions with very consistent presence and new participants. The young Czech teams still dominate the monthly leaderboards, while iFLY Dallas has been defending the 2nd place successfully.

So far, only ICL Midwest and iFLY Fort Lauderdale have switched ranking positions this year between February and March. ICL Midwest, now under CSC Constellation XP leadership, missed the January competition and the score for one sequence in February. The two ICL teams were separated by only three points last month (99 - 96). The new Indoor Cloud League videos are featuring the teams who posted the highscores in February and March. It is no surprise that the Czech Skywalkers Junior and HF Chameleons claimed all highscores for the Open Class sequences (AAA/AA), while the other three ICL teams stole at least a few other ones (iFLY Dallas 3, ICL Midwest 3, iFLY Fort Lauderdale 1).
