posted Oct 14th, 2009 - It's a special day at the 2009 USPA National Skydiving Championships. There is no doubt that at least two rounds will be completed today. Most likely, the meet will even be completed, as the weather forecast is promising.

Mentioning two rounds is meant to keep Round 6 of the Open Class competition in mind, which is probably not very difficult. Round 6 has a sequence that is fast enough to set a new world record for a single round. The world record round can be expected around noon.

The NSL News used another weather break yesterday to meet with the leader of the AA/Intermediate Class competition for a round of NSL Talk. Team VTSD was already introduced to the audience with the story on 12 October 2009. The dominating performance at the USPA Nationals was another reason to get the team in front of the NSL-TV camera. The video of the live interview has been uploaded and is available for reviews.

The team members introduce themselves in the interview with age and jump numbers. They are young of age, impressively well skilled considering the low jump numbers, and eager to become world champions one day. It seems as if a new generation of Genesis/PD Blue grows at another college, Virginia Tech this time.

The team members gave special credit to their coach Jan Lane, an experienced 4-way competitor from North Carolina, former member of the Angry Beez. He helped VTSD to go from nowhere at the beginning of the 2009 season to the top of the leaderboard this week.

The team is financially not supported by Virginia Tech, the members are spending their own money. They completed less than 100 jumps together this year, shared between training and competition. A few additional hours of tunnel training helped to get to the current performance level. VTSD is currently ten points ahead of the rest of the field.

The fog is gone, and the planes are taking off for the completiton of Round 5.
