posted Aug 22nd, 2005 - The scores of last weekend's meets and the NSL Playoffs 2005 have begun to arrive at the NSL headquarters, and the first results have been posted. The UK Armed Forces Championships at Netheravon participated inofficially by using the same competition draw. The field of teams in the UK includes the all-female team Airkix, which recently made the NSL News after attending a competition of the Southwest Skydiving League and the UK Nationals 2005. Valkyrie is a Norwegian team in the Women's Class, Airblast is from Denmark.

The scores of the Florida Skydiving League will be followed soon by the meet story, pictures and NSL-TV videos. The teams of the Midwest Skydiving League posted new record scores, and the story will follow soon, as well. The MidAtlantic Skydiving League teams competed at Cross Keys and provided meet information:

Freefall Adventures hosted the NSL Playoffs 2005 this past weekend with four teams competing, one Rookie Class and three AA Class teams.

Chambersburg 5 was the only Rookie Class team that competed in all four MASL/NSL meets this year nationwide (5.2 - 6.8 - 4.8 - 7.0), and the team from Pennsylvania had to travel 150 miles each time to do that. "This is the kind of commitment that makes the NSL rock", commented MASL co-director Cherie Hall. Chambersburg 5 had resolved some of their exit problems at earlier meets. The result was more consistent scoring, and the Pennsylvania team finished the meet with a 7.0 average in the Rookie Class, the highest meet average of the team's 2005 season.

AA Class team Controlled Descent is made up of long-time NSL competitors. Air Pollution is the only team at Cross Keys that is tough enough to train throughout the whole winter on home turf. Team Cross Keys is a team with no training schedule, which has just participated in the MASL meets.

Saturday started off with a cloud cover, which eventually broke up enough to get the meet started in the afternoon. Although the rounds continued into the evening hours, the meet was carried over to the next day. However, some teams could not stick around to finish all ten rounds.

The only unusual event occurred at the end of the first day during round six for Cross Keys. The team climbed out on the green light only to get a red light a few seconds later. The Cross Keys members were able to climb back into the airplane with the exception of their videographer, Raoul Gravelle, who was surprised by the sudden application of engine torque as he stood on the camera step. Needless to say that he didn't stay there for very long. Cross Keys did round six the next morning.

Controlled Descent and Air Pollution competed for the second place in the AA Class behind Cross Keys, the casual MASL top contender with a 12.5 average after ten rounds. Controlled Descent finished with a 7.2 meet average after six rounds, while long-time rival Air Pollution pulled ahead with an 8.8 meet average after ten rounds. Air Pollution has shown steady improvement this year (7.0 - 8.7 - 8.3 - 8.8) as a result of a new line-up and some tunnel training earlier in the season.

Last year's Cross Keys O2 Project member Tom Petzold served as this meet's judge. Cherie Hall added that the MASL teams and competitors expressed their appreciation of Cross Keys' owner, John Eddowes: "All the competitors in the MASL want to say thanks to John Eddowes, the DZO at Cross Keys, for his unwavering support of Formation Skydiving. Teams travel from as far as Ohio to train at this southern New Jersey drop zone because of the great aircraft and facilities. There are few drop zones in the country that are so FS friendly. Thanks for another great season John!"
