Did You Know...

... that the Final Four rear piece won a 2-way competition in Germany?

2-way competition draw in Germany
posted Jun 26th, 2011 - The first scores this weekend are not coming from one of the five 4-way meets across the globe. Germany is hosting the nationwide annual 2-way competition. National coach Mathias Maushake collects all information at his own Aerosport Fallschirmsport GmbH skydiving center in Kassel where nine 2-way teams were posting scores for the 3-round meet.

This event was introduced in 2007 and is open for everybody. German top competitors compete together with participants from the grassroot level in all kind of different combinations.

One of the defending 2-way champions is Olaf Biedermann who has been a German national 4-way and 8-way champion numerous times and still trains and competes with the current national 8-way team. His partner was Mike Vetter last year who has trained and competed with X-Ray Remscheid in the past years and runs the Go Jump skydiving center in Berlin-Gransee. He is hosting five of the 53 teams who have posted scores so far.

Olaf Biedermann and Mike Vetter are not participating this year, and the new German 2-way champions will most likely be two Final Four DeLand members. Thomas Mack and Chris Schäfer are currently eight points ahead of the team in 2nd place after the three meet rounds (29-25-23 = 77). They are well trained, as they are the rear piece for Final Four, which is one of the 4-way top contenders in Germany.

Steffi Kempter and Göran Meyer are back from last year's competition and will finish short of the 1st place once again (25-21-23 = 69). Göran Meyer is a former EADS 4-way member, the unofficial amateur world champion of 2006. He is also a member of the German national 8-way team this year. The members of the current German national 4-way team, FSC Paratec-Saar, unofficial amateur world champion of 2010, did not sign up for the 2-way competition.

Katha Gebele and Andrea Jongebloed are in 3rd place (21-17-27 = 65) and probably surprised the winning team with the 27-pointer highscore in Round 3. They are two of the Usual Suspects, a German 4-way team that posted a 14.1 average at a competition in Germany earlier this month.

The NSL News will visit Germany later this year for the live coverage of the World Cup 2011. NSL founder Kurt Gaebel also has a weekend visit at a German skydiving center on the travel itinerary to the World Cup 2011 that has shown more interest in the international NSL 4-way network.

FSC Remscheid and National Skydiving League are sponsoring the NSL Remscheid Cup 2011, hosted by FSV Merseburg at a skydiving center near Halle. Interested skydivers in Germany and visitors have the opportunity to learn more about the international NSL Network and about 4-way competition directly from the NSL founder who was born and raised in Berlin, Germany, and competed for many years in the German national 4-way and 8-way teams.

The skydiving center in Merseburg will have an AN-28 available for the event, which is a combination of 4-way competition, 4-way-scrambles and Team-4-1-Day with free coaching. The NSL News will soon follow up with more information.
