Did You Know...

... that Denmark has three new line-ups for the project teams?

posted Apr 3rd, 2007 - The NSL News promised earlier today to provide an update from Denmark. The new Danish national team "Danish Blaze" had competed at the FSL Shamrock Showdown 2007 and ended up with a 13.9 average at the end of the 10-round meet. Round 8 was the highlight for Danish Blaze and is currently featured on NSL-TV.

The NSL News posted the last update from Denmark on 21 July 2006, a few days after last year's national championship. The Danish 4-way line-up of the past years, the "DaneZ" (Rene Andreasen, Jesper Rasmussen, Jess Romer, Mikael Toft) had finally posted new official record scores for Denmark (17.3 average, 27-pointer).

The same line-up traveled to Germany in August 2006 and represented Denmark at the World Meet 2006 with an even better 18.0 record average after five rounds. It was the last time the DaneZ competed together.

The Danish 4-way Project includes three teams on three different levels, as the NSL News explained in previous stories. The DaneZ were the national A-Team in 2006, "Vitesse" was the B-Team, "Elements" the C-Team. The members of the project teams are being selected annually.

The new Danish national A-Team has a new name and three new members. Only Rene Andreasen came back after the World Meet 2006. In addition, Brian Gregersen, Lars Jensen, Allan Stejlborg and Torben Tidemand were selected and founded "Danish Blaze" for the 2007 and 2008 season.

One of the newest team members, Torben Tidemand, took the time to visit at the NSL office and provide up-to-date information in a live interview. Vibeke Birk is a new member of the B-Team "Sequence", together with Kasper Brandt-Svanekier (Center Outside), Simon Mortensen (Center Inside), Ulrik Heesberg (Tail) and Michael Laigaard (Video), and helped to answer the NSL News questions from her perspective.

Torben Tidemand and Vibeke Birk were both already in DeLand at the FSL Shamrock Showdown 2006. Torben Tidemand was a member of last year's B-Team Vitesse and competed at the Shamrock Showdown with the pick-up team "Last Second" in the AA Class competition. Vibeke Birk was not in any of the Danish project teams by then.

The current A-Team member with Danish Blaze is committed to bring out the best of this line-up until the World Meet 2008 in France, while Vibeke Birk is eager to make it into the A-Team one day in the future. Torben Tidemand's current line-up will probably face a serious challenge already this year when the old DaneZ members might get together to compete at the Danish Nationals 2007. The NSL News audience will hear about it...
