posted Apr 22nd, 2005 - Two events are scheduled for this weekend, one in North Carolina, the other one in Indiana. The Carolina Skydiving League kicks off the 2005 season with its competition at a new CaSL location, Skydive Coastal Carolinas, while the Mideast Skydiving League has a Skills Camp on its agenda.

Both events will be challenged by the weather situation in the northeastern parts of the U.S.A. CaSL Director Randy Garman expected weather problems for Saturday when he was getting ready for his 3-hour trip to the new and scenic CaSL hosting location on the shores of the Atlantic. However, he was hopeful after checking the weather forecast for Sunday.

Mideast Skydiving League Director Randy Connell did not give his Skills Camp any chances after checking the weekend weather forecast for Indiana. He had scheduled a Skills Camp for his region's teams and competitors under the supervision and with the coaching of Team Fastrax.

The hopeless weather situation forced Connell and the Fastrax members to make quick decisions. Result was a new plan for the weekend, which would still offer the potential participants the opportunity to learn a lot about 4-way competition. The MESL Director and Fastrax agreed to run a 1-day workshop on Saturday at the Fastrax headquarters in Greensburg.

Fastrax member and manager John Hart reached out to Connell with an offer he could hardly refuse. Hart suggested to relocate to the Fastrax training center in Cincinnatti. The MESL Workshop will begin at 8 a.m. on Saturday morning and cover topics as training and competition routines and planning for teams, creeper techniques, mental aspects of training, grip management and planning, details of the current dive pool and engineering.

There will also be a creeper competition near the end of the day, and lunch with pizza and drinks will be sponsored by Team Fastrax. Connell mentioned that teams that get these sort of team challenges handled properly will operate more efficiently overall, and they will increase their performances significantly with a good application of these training methods. He also encouraged individuals to join this workshop.

The MESL Workshop with Team Fastrax will surely take place, despite the weather situation. Hopefully, CaSL Director Randy Garman will be able to provide the NSL News with scores, stories and meet videos of the competition at the end of the weekend.
