... that the British delegation has 4-way options for the FAI World Cup 2019?

Best AAA Class team in Great Britain: NFTO
posted Aug 13th, 2019 - The UK Nationals are around the corner at the end of the month. The major outdoor event for the British teams will then be followed by the FAI Outdoor World Cup in October, where the British Parachute Association (BPA) will be present with a large delegation.

The British delegation for FAI world meets or world cups consists of the teams who qualified at the national championships of the previous year. The upcoming event includes the qualification for the FAI Outdoor World Meet in Tanay 2020, while the placements at the UK Nationals 2018 determined the teams in the British delegation for the world cup in October.

FAI rules allow delegations to register four teams per Formation Skydiving category. NFTO won the national championships last year, and Satori XL have not come back to 4-way competition this year so far, after representing Great Britain in the 4-way Open Class competition of the FAI Outdoor World Meet 2018.

Chimera is ready to challenge NFTO for the top spot in Great Britain and have completed their travel plans to Arizona in October. Eros finished closely behind Chimera last year and have confirmed their attendance at the world cup, as well. Antimatter have not posted any scores this year, which left the 4th slot in the British delegation open for Pajama Pumas, as the NSL News reported on June 11th.

Alola AA Class lineup in 2018
There is a 5th team in the 4-way delegation. The British Parachute Association has established the tradition that the winner of the AA Class competition at the national championships gets an invitation to join the British 4-way delegation for the FAI event in the following year.

Alola won the AA Class title last year and will compete in Eloy, as well. FAI events include only the AAA Class dive pool, except for the 4-way Junior competition with the 16 AA Class blocks and all random formations.

Alola left the AA Class behind after winning last year's national championship in this category and are ready to post the team's first AAA Class scores, first at the UK Nationals, then at the FAI World Cup.

Last year's four British AAA Class teams of this year's 4-way delegation all competed at the World Challenge 2019, while Alola have not posted any AAA Class scores this year. However, the team has taken on the new dive pool with the help of NFTO member Siân Stokes and will collect the first AAA Class meet experiences at the UK Nationals before competing with the British delegation at the world cup.

NFTO - Chimera - Eros - Pajama Pumas at the World Challenge 2019
4-way Open Class at the FAI World Cup 2012: French Deep Blue Defenders
It is apparently not quite clear at this point in time, for which FAI event Alola will be registered by the British Parachute Association. The all-female team qualify for the British 4-way delegation as last year's AA Class winner, while they are also eligible for the 4-way Women competition at the world cup.

The national delegations have the option to send their all-female teams either into the 4-way Open Class competition, or sign them up in 4-way Women. It would not be the first time that an all-female team competes in the 4-way Open Class. The French national team in 4-way Women finished in 5th place on the 4-way Open Class leaderboard of the FAI World Cup 2012.

NFTO were the best 4-way Open Class and 4-way Women team at last year's national championship, and the British Parachute Association could register the team for the 4-way Open Class competition in Eloy, which would leave space for Alola only on the 4-way Women leaderboard. There is also the option that both teams compete in 4-way Women.

NFTO will not be able to get to the FAI medal positions in 4-way Open, while they seem to be very close to the French top spot in 4-way Women. The British Parachute Association has interesting options...
