posted: Oct 3rd, 2011 The NSL News visited the Northern Plains Skydiving League last weekend for the last meet of the 2011 season. Cold but beautiful fall weather welcomed the teams and the NSL News at Skydive Twin Cities in Baldwin, Wisconsin. It took both weekend days to complete the meet since many tandem passengers used the great weather conditions to get in the air for the first and maybe second time. Host DZ and NPSL Director Mike Betz had originally planned to have a Twin Otter available to accommodate the additional competition activities. Unfortunately, the Twin Otter had mechanical problems that could... (more)

posted: Jul 27th, 2011 Hot. That's the first thing that comes to Northern Plains Skydiving League Director Mike Betz's mind when he thinks about the 2nd meet of the 2011 season on the July 16/17 weekend: "With the temperature in the high 90's and the humidity not too far behind, even the devil was crying for air conditioning..." However, much like the first NPSL meet this year, this meet started out on a very long weather hold. Fortunately, Mike Betz had invited British 4-way world champion of 2008, Hannah Betts, to help all seven teams dirt dive their jumps. Some teams took advantage of the downtime and worked on... (more)
News Article Did you know that cheese curds have a special meaning in the Northern Plains?
posted: Jun 21st, 2011 The Northern Plains Skydiving League had a change of leadership this year. Sandy Grillet, father of Arizona Airspeed's alternate Nick Grillet, launched the league from scratch in 2001 and has guided it like a godfather for ten years. He helped to ceate a strong following of passionate and casual 4-way competitors in the Northern Plains area and participated himself actively all the time. It was somehow shocking for the NSL headquarters when he said that he would not be able to continue with his efforts this year. He left NPSL Director shoes of a very large size, and it was unclear who would... (more)
